February Photos :  Louisiana

New Orleans during Mardi Gras week
We didn't plan on arriving in New Orleans for Mardi Gras but it just worked out that way and I gotta say - we had a great time.  I, a plain ol' mother of two from the prairies had a bang up fantastic time.  As did Todd & the kids.  Everyone in Louisiana was very friendly and made sure we had a good (and SAFE) time.

We saw a couple of parades (one night and one during the day - night was better), collected some throws, toured New Orleans, rode a riverboat down the Mississippi River for an afternoon, and ate around 20 lbs of Louisiana crawfish (over a 5 day period).

Bourbon street during daylight hours.

New Orleans is below sea level so the dead used to be buried above ground. A drainage system now allows for below ground burials.

Here is an ex. of a float - some are 3 times this size with 100 people 'throwing'. (We don't have any pics of those because we were to busy catching).

Todd displays our 'throws' from the Orpheus parade.

WOO-WEE - Some Loooouuuisiana Crawfish. This is 2 lbs. - the average meal per person is 5 lbs. Delicious!
